Kyubi Kitsune and Delilah - 2007
13 1/4" x 28", watercolor
In Japanese folklore 'kyubi kitsune' is a mysterious nine-tailed fox, a shape-shifter at the height of it's powers. The fox begins to gather momentum at age fifty, when it develops the power to transform into a human, often embodying a beautiful woman. In legends, it battles animals such as badgers, but in this instance, it has turned itself into Delilah, a parrot who trims the tail of a cat.
