Night Parade of 100 Demons
Night Parade of 100 Demons
"Night Parade of 100 Demons/ Kasha” (2021) is inspired by a famous story in Japanese folklore in which one hundredyokai (demons) come out to march at night: Kasha is a "cat-like demon that descends from the sky." The 18th Century artist Toriyama Sekien drew Kasha as a cat, for his “The Illustrated Night Parade of a Hundred Demons.”
The original artwork by Moira Hahn is a watercolor painting on paper. Some slight modifications have been made to the image for the print, such as using Kanji on the spray container, and some color adjustment to optimize the appearance for output. The printing method has resulted in a very beautiful result: a colorful, dramatic image with depth and range.
